Elijah, Luke, and I were transported back to 1827, one year after the Erie Canal opened for commerce and learned many details about the building and operating of the canal. We had two guides, Mr. Amos Eaton, a professor who traveled the length of the Erie Canal with his field journal collecting, observing, and recording the things he sees - wild life, plant life, geology, etc. Mrs. Multoon, was the boat's cook and talked about the things we were to eat for our meals on the 15 day journey from the beginning of our 360 mile trip in Albany to the end point in Buffalo as well as other facts from that time period.

Kiley, your posts are BEAUTIFUL and so creative! THank you, thank you, thank you for blogging! I LOVE the Sam Patch! THe last time I was on that was about eight years ago with about 30 or so 4th and 5th grade students from RCSD... whoa blast from the past... Glad you had fun :)
