A Little Slice of Heaven

As our host so aptly stated in regard to the sweet fellowship, unity in Christ and fun..."this weekend has GOT to be the closest thing to heaven we can experience on earth..."

This group of friends started meeting many moons ago when Mike and I were brand-spanking new newlyweds at a young couples Bible study group..."The 20-Somethings." The oldest children were only 2 yrs. old. Oh my! Look at how we have been blessed!!

Eleven years later, we're "The 30-Somethings." We all live in different places...boo hoo! We're busy parents of wonderful children. The oldest children are turning 13 this year! That means I have "old-ish" friends...you know...you have to be so grown up and responsible to have kids that are teenagers. I'm like so totally young yet. (wink, wink) Anyhow, getting back together for a weekend of camping was just like old times, as if no time had passed at all...

Did you count our kiddos yet???

The H. Family: Isaac, Jonathan, Hess, Abigail, Selah, Hannah, Sig
The R. Family: Kathryn, Jessica, Ashley, Andrew, Madison
The K. Family: Katie, Karissa, Erik, Kassandra
The Farwells: Elijah, Luke, Isaac, Sadie

That's TWENTY!!! Ages 13 and under. They all got along SO well...no joke! Serious fun. Serious play.

The B. Family - our hosts: It doesn't matter how many people are around, they make you feel like you are the most important person in that crowd. They are a shining example of Christ's sacrificial love. They are probably the most generous people I know. WOW! And God has allowed us to be a part of their lives. We are so truly blessed by their friendship!!!

Too bad it had to end...well, except for the part where I slept on the ground in our tent instead of taking the time to blow up the air mattress...

Which, by the way, this was our FIRST family camping experience. We bought a new tent! And we're eager for more camping. Any of you "30-Somethings" up for another round???!!!

Yay for camping! Carole and I went camping a few weeks ago with another friend you may know (Jen McMullen). Had a blast...6 adults and 14 kids. We should all plan a camping trip together!
