Crispy Sugarman Bagel

It's almost become a weekly, Sunday evening tradition to prepare breakfast food for dinner. In order for a breakfast dinner to be approved by the man of the house, it needs to include meat...usually bacon. Getting tired of pancakes and french toast, I was looking around for something bread-like to add to our meal of cheesy scrambled eggs and bacon. Then I spotted the bagels and had a wonderful vision of breakfasts at Penn-York Camp where I spent many weeks as a camper during my childhood. The cook prepared these crispy cinnamon sugar bagels loaded with butter, and I was hooked. Seriously, I love anything crispy, buttery and cinnamon sugary...guess who's drooling for an elephant ear at a summer festival?! So I prepared a few of these bagel sweeties and served them to the boys. I didn't know what to call them, so I reverted to a term that Elijah coined several years ago...sugarman (sugar and cinnamon). The boys gobbled up their Crispy Sugarman Bagels with abandon. I don't know if there is a real recipe out there, but I definitely came close enough.

If you want to try it, butter a bagel, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top and bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or until crispy. The toppings melt together to make a crispy crust. You won't regret it!

Yep. Crispy. Buttery. Cinnamon-sugary. That does it... I'm going to give those a try. They look delicious! Lately I've been eating a crisp tortilla rolled up with melted butter and 'sugarman' (how cute is that!?) on occasion. It'll do in a pinch. :)
