Niabi Zoo - June 2nd

We spent a beautiful morning at the Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley, Illinois. This zoo featured many animals the boys have never seen up close before. As an added bonus, with our reciprocal membership at the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, we were able to get in for free.

I loved this sign at the zoo entrance!

In the aviary, many birds were not caged, but perched on branches above enjoying some snacks...

The zebras were a neat part of the the Passport to Africa exhibits...bad picture, though!

I'm a tortoise and I have lettuce all over my shell...the boys thought this was funny!

We enjoyed taking pictures at all the animal statues...but this was the cutest of all the boys at the farm animal petting zoo.

We took a train ride around the perimeter of the zoo. Toot! Toot!

All smiles waiting for the train ride to start.

The newest addition to the African exhibit...giraffes. I marvel at God's creativity in designing their skin. It's amazing...giraffes may be my favorite animal because of this. The whole time I was looking at them I wondered if I could make a quilt to duplicate their skin.

Luke's favorite animal...he seemed really peaceful even though my boys were roaaaaring at him to get his attention. He finally looked our way and we got this great picture.

Elijah's favorite animal...we had to go back several times to finally see the elephant out of its enclosure. Isaac didn't want to leave the elephant. He kept pointing and lifting his arm pretending it was his trunk. So cute!
