The Virginia Farwells

We took a trip to VA this past week to visit with family. Our first stop was in Chesapeake, VA to hang out with Mike's brother and his family.

Emerson and the boys...the cousins had a fantastic time playing together

Sharpening sticks with "knives" (aka smaller sticks) for roasting marshmallows

Hmmm...I wonder if Emerson used bats in this way before playing with my weapon loving boys. As Mike says, "When you are a boy, anything can be turned into a gun."

The mamas and the cousins...hiding in the bellies are Mr. Benaiah James (32 wks) and Miss ??? (29 wks). More cousins = more fun!!!

We spent one morning at the beach. It was about 63 degrees and windy and the beach was deserted for miles except for the occasional bundled up walker and die hard surfers. The water was numbingly cold, but we went in anyhow. We only wore shorts and t-shirts because it was about 73 degrees away from the water. We forgot sunblock for the first hour or so and received the beginnings of our yearly farmer tans. But, it was a blast!

Thanks for posting these Kiley! We had such a great time with you all and the boys definitely have left an impression on Emerson, albeit a good one!!! We love you all!

Looks like a fun trip to VA with family/cousins. You all are a beautiful family!

This may sound odd, but it's so nice to see another family of boys permitted to be boys: guns, swords, "knives", etc. :)

You were in my neck of the woods! I lived in Virginia Beach for almost 10 years before moving to Richmond, VA. What part of Chesapeake were you in?
