Washington, D.C.

The final leg of our vacation took us to Washington, D.C. Mike travels to D.C. quite often for work, but never has a chance to visit any sights. With an abundance of free museums and sights, we were excited to experience some of what D.C. has to offer. The highlight for Elijah and Luke was riding on the Metro. This was their first ride on a train other than the slow, scenic "Day Out With Thomas" trip we'd taken in the past. Our hotel was a distance from the Mall, so we took a van shuttle to the Metro, then the Metro to the Smithsonian stop. I think they secretly liked not being buckled up, too!

The Washington Monument was impressive...the "tallest building I've ever seen" said an awestruck Elijah.

Family photo taken by a curious and overly excited stranger upon finding out our next baby is a girl...and the typical Isaac pose in most of our pictures from Washington.

Enjoying the dinosaur bones at the Natural History Museum...a little too much evolution throughout the museum for our taste, but enjoyable anyhow.

At the Air and Space Museum...the boys loved all the interactive exhibits and walking through the airplane and shuttle.

Isaac loved spinning this disc..."How Does Friction Work?"

Those amazing Wright Brothers and the Farwell boys who are fascinated by them...oh, and Isaac who loved doing the opposite of what we wanted.

We're looking forward to visiting again as the boys get older. There's so much to see and so little time!

we lived within an hour (in good traffic which is rare) from DC and i can count on one hand the number of times we went into the city. It just wasn't worth the fight with the other traffic. I'm looking forward to taking the girls when they are older. James still has a lot of buddies in that area. Glad you had a fun time.

How fun. Sometimes we miss living there, minus the traffic. It looks like you all had a wonderful time though and Kiley you look amazing!!
