{Mosaic Reviews} 2013 Blog Planner

I'm so excited to share my first review with you as a member of Mosaic Reviews!  As a team member, my goal is to use and become familiar with a product and then share my opinion.  Totally fun, right?!

My team leaders were wise to make our first review item a free blog planner to help us organize our writing, posting, and sharing.  There were a handful to choose from and while I was first drawn to some of the more detailed, fancy designs, I knew that I would fare better with a simple, streamlined planner.  (But maybe, secretly, I chose Mama Jenn's planner because she, like myself, has four boys and one princess...grin!)

Mama Jenn has created a clean, no fuss, down-to-business-with-a-dash-of-pretty blog planner.  Her free blog planner has over 50 pages for the entire year.  The sweet daisies add enough color to brighten up the pages without breaking the bank by using up your colored ink.

Each month's pages include sections for:

Monthly Blog Calendar
Major Blog Posts to Write
Blog Related To-Do Lists and Goals
Giveaways/Reviews
Blog Post Notes

Mama Jenn has included bonus pages as well:

Year at a Glance Calendar
Monthly Blog Statistics
Future Blog Post Ideas
Notes

You can print as many or as few of each page as you'd like for each month.  I printed the planner exactly as it comes though I imagine in the future I will be going back to reprint a few of my most used pages.

I chose to 3-hole punch my pages and place them in a 3-ring binder with tabs separating each month rather than having my planner spiral bound. (Ahem...someone still needs to label the tabs...) I want to be able to insert additional pages about each review product during the month my review is due.  Even if I write details down, I'm the type of person who needs a hard copy to refer back to otherwise I constantly second guess what I've transcribed. I figured it would be easier to look right in my blog planner to double check information than to search our team forum each time.

And, goodness gracious, in my current stage of life homeschooling with five cutie pies ages ten to four months, I don't even remember what I ate for breakfast let alone important due dates and information about review products!  Grin!

This page, Monthly Blog Planner, is perfect for me to see if I'm meeting my goal of blogging at least two to three times each week.  The small boxes are for noting whether I've shared my blog posts on social media which is totally new for me!

To be honest, I am pretty hit or miss when it comes to blogging. I have a lot of ideas swirling around in my head, but often times when I sit down to the computer to write, I draw a blank.  So I just post a lot of pictures which is totally fun, but I'd like to write more.  Major Blog Posts to Write became a section to jot down my ideas for future posts even though there is a specific page for ideas at the end of the planner.

The Giveaways/Reviews page was really the most helpful to me of all the pages.  We usually have up to six weeks to review products.  Remember how I said I can't remember what I ate for breakfast???!!!  I certainly won't remember my first impression or thoughts from weeks ago.  As I'm using a product, I can take notes so at the end of the review period, I'll still be able to give a complete and thorough opinion.

You can see the blog planner pages, my printed out details from Mosaic Reviews, and my folder tabs holding information on a product I'm reviewing in March!

I am certain that, over the next few months, using this blog planner will become much more habitual and natural for me.  I just might even get ahead a bit and schedule a blog post.  Wouldn't that be something?!

Thanks, Mama Jenn for creating a great resource for anyone who would like to be more organized with their blogging!

 {Disclaimer: I received a copy of the above mentioned product to help facilitate the writing of a frank and honest review.  All opinions are my own.  Your results and opinions may vary.}

A Whole Lotta Cute for a Whole Lotta Nothin'

What do college friends and butterflies have in common? Nothing really unless you consider that one of my old college friends came for a visit and brought her butterfly punches with her.

Eight kids, six of them four and under. Two moms maintaining high hopes of crafting with said butterfly punches. Chaos along with fun. Laughter. Comfortable. Good times.

In between talking and caring for the kids, we did indeed find time to punch out our butterflies for this project. Just plain old hand powered punches by Martha Stewart (though she did bring her mother-in-law's Cricut...we were clueless! Ha!)

After my friend headed back home, while Sadie was napping, I grabbed a thrifted frame from my stash that was already painted white and started assembling my picture.

Side note: This type of project is the very reason I will be packing and moving all my unused frames and ugly dated pictures from the basement...not everything that is unused in storage should be eliminated!!! Mike, I'm taking my frames...grin!

I need to find spacers to go between the glass and the paper so the butterflies don't get smushed. I love it!!! Too bad it will have to be packed away until we get into our new house to be hung in Sadie's room.

This project cost me $0.00. I already owned the scrapbooking paper, glue strips, and frame!!! A whole lotta cute for a whole lotta nuthin'!!! But now I'm tempted to buy butterfly punches...

Thanks for bringing your gang here, Tarah! So fun to see you!!!

Hidden In My Heart Dolls Blog

I've been working on setting up a blog for my little doll making business. Well, I actually created it back in October 2010 when my little business began, but with the help of facebook and etsy, I didn't really need to pursue it. But now...drum roll, please... Hidden In My Heart Dolls blog is live!!! I'm still selling dolls and accessories through my etsy shop. I'll still keep my facebook business page. So go "like" all those things!!!

My goal for the blog is to:

(1) Post lots of pictures from custom orders going out to thank you pictures from customers - there is MUCH sweetness to be shared!

(2) Make it easier for customers to find all the info and doll options/choices they need for their custom doll order in one place.

(3) Share ideas for new items or give sneak peaks of items going into my shop.

(4) Host or participate in giveaways (like the one starting on Monday, May 23rd).

Come on over to Hidden In My Heart Dolls, check it out, become a follower, and spread the word!!!

And don't forget to enter my giveaway starting Monday, May 23rd...you could win one custom doll and ruffle dress with bloomers!!!

New "Vintage" Friends

My memory is foggy on how I stumbled across the vintage sheet world, but a few months back, I found Katie Jean and began following her blog. During the month of March, The Vintage Sheet Blog was hosting giveaways (from other vintage sheet lovin' gals) every day to celebrate their one year blog-aversary. It was during that time that my love for vintage sheets began to grow. I've found and follow many new "favorite" blogs. Anyhow, Katie Jean was a giveaway host one day and I won her giveaway!!! Squeal!!! It has been fun "meeting" new crafting friends and Katie Jean seems like a super, sweet one!!!

Miss Clementine is layin' out catching some rays on her sweet flowery doll quilt! Well, not really, but I couldn't resist mentioning the fact that we actually have SUNSHINE and WARMTH today...finally feels like the first day of spring!!! The tree's leaves are opening before my eyes! I'm betting that Katie Jean packed a buncha California sun in her package just for me!!!

This is the best picture I could get of Sadie Katie...not very cooperative today, but who can blame her?! She was having so much fun covering up "Tine" for night-night.

We have to work on those mothering and smothering skills...he, he!

Miss Lola and Miss Clementine tucked in for nap time with Sadie...night-night girlies!

Sewing Basket for Little Hands

If you've been reading along with me recently, you know that I've really been enjoying giving handmade gifts...mostly in the form of projects I've sewn. A friend directed me to a really neat gift idea for little ones - a sewing basket using many items that you might already own if you're a crafty person. I put these sewing baskets together for two sweet girl's birthdays.

I gathered a bunch of items - scraps of ric-rac, lace, & ribbon, chenille stems, embroidery hoops, chenille yarn (thrifted $0.79), spools of thread (thrifted $0.99), plastic containers, pretty doilies, flower sequins, rubber gripper shelf liner (purchased $1 each), cute baskets (thrifted $0.49 each), miniature fabric bags, felt, and buttons. I purchased a few more items not pictured - bag of colorful shaped buttons ($4.99), embroidery floss ($2.00 for 6 skeins), plastic blunt needles ($0.99 for 6), and I added a vintage hankie to each basket as well.

I sewed little tags for their sewing baskets. A 3x5 index card folded in half with a fabric heart sewn on the front. I put a teeny bit of glue on the fabric to hold it in place for sewing.

Some of the items rolled, gathered, contained in the fabric bags, and plastic container before squeezing it all into the sewing basket.

All packaged up and ready to go!

A great way to use scraps and novelties and inspire creativity!!! In all, I spent about $14 for supplies some of which I still have leftovers for the next sewing basket! I know some parents and kids might not appreciate a gift like this with some of it being thrifted and leftovers, but I'm sure the little girls getting these baskets will thoroughly enjoy them. I would be thrilled if Sadie received a gift like this from a dear friend! Gee, I think I would enjoy getting a basket like this!!!

Racing Against the Clock

I found a great website for generating math fact worksheets. We need to "beef up" our mastery of certain math facts and this is a great way to do it! You can even generate an answer key for each worksheet you create. And it's all FREE!!! In fact, the boys are racing against the clock (ahem...and I think each other a bit, too) to complete a "7 fact family" addition worksheet right now! Gotta go check their work and record their time.

Esther Ruth

A few weeks back we won this sweet doll "Esther Ruth" from Baby Be Blessed. I don't know who likes her more...Sadie or Mama! It's so cute to see Sadie holding her doll's hand or leg...I can just picture her dragging little Esther Ruth around by the arm (along with her quilt, too, of course!)

What I love most about this business is that you can order a personalized doll with your child's name and a scripture of your choice. Esther Ruth's scripture (on her tummy) is quite appropriate to lessons Mike and I have been learning about how we raise our children in the Lord and deal with our own heart issues as well as theirs. I believe winning this doll with this specific scripture is a gentle and loving reminder from God about those very lessons.

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." Proverbs 4:23

Rosetta Stone Give Away

Want to win a Rosetta Stone Language program? Here are the details from http://jeneralities.com

Rosetta Stone is the fastest way to learn a language and has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while — and you can WIN the *all new* version 3 Rosetta Stone Homeschool LATIN program… FOR FREE! This is the first year you can get Latin in the brand new Version III update.

This is a $259 program. This is a computer based curriculum and Rosetta Stone will also include a headset with microphone, and a supplementary “Audio Companion” CD so you can practice lessons in the car, on the go, or where-ever! Students participate in life-like conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone incorporates listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary and writing along with speaking and pronunciation lessons. For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program to allow parents to easily enroll up to ten students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, grade completed work (the program grades the work automatically as the students progress- I love that!), and you can view and print reports for transcripts. Homeschooling a lot of kids at your house? This program is designed to enroll and track up to ten students (five users on two computers) and will work for nearly all ages — from beginning readers up to college students.
